Solving the Fulani question

Image
I had thought that #EndSARS was going to be decisive in the next Presidential Elections in Nigeria, but I was completely mistaken. Without a shadow of doubt, the next Elections would manifestly be about the Fulani question. #EndSARS was a wake up call but it accentuated the insecurity in the land. Some experts believe Nigeria is underpoliced but the truth is that the policemen that we have are not helping matters at all. #EndSARS so infuriated the Police that they abandoned the streets. Today the insecurity that is ravaging Nigeria is of two fold: banditry in the north and kidnapping in the South. What beats my imagination is the fact that herdsmen have under the guise of grazing cattle taken over our forests. Similarly, the domination of our forests in the North by Boko Haram and so called bandits beggars belief. Leaders are born in times of crisis. Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu and Akeredolu are for now, the men to beat. It is not too late for others to emerge but definitely, the b

The Ping Pong between Ondo State Government and the Presidency

Image
Ping pong is also known as Table Tennis. It is a very interesting game. It involves back and forth like the one between Ondo State government and the Presidency over the presence of herdsmen in Ondo's forest reserves. It is a known fact that security of lives and property are key for the survival of a people. Any government worth its salt takes those two very serious. Today, in Nigeria security is on the front burner because not since the Nigerian civil war has security deteriorated so much in various parts of the country. It is not surprising that Ondo State government is taking a tough measure of asking herdsmen to leave Ondo forest reserves. There are various ways of looking at the order. Garba Shehu, one of the Presidential spokesmen has chosen to see the order as a violation of the Nigerian Constitution. Ondo State government have responded that they are fighting criminality as the reserves were being misused as a den of kidnappers. Just like Ping pong is entertaining, outside
