The Crucifixion of Matthew Hassan Kukah

Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah

Bishop of Sokoto Diocese

Ever since I was a boy, I have been reading articles of Reverend Father

Matthew Hassan Kukah, now Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.

Reading Father Hassan Kukah was always a pleasure.

Today the sword of Damocles is supposedly hanging over the head of Father Kukah.

What is surprising in all of these is the fact that some people want to be crying more than the bereaved.

Some Islamic clerics are the ones threatening Father Kukah and the government would have none of it. Could it be the voice of Jacob and the hand of Esau?

Father Kukah in a beautiful piece on Christmas day, said what everyone knows in a way no one has put together and some people are crying wolf more than the government he criticized.

First they tell him to quit Sokoto for daring to put together what everyone knows about and the government says no.

Now he is being threatened with Crucifixion if he dares to criticize the government again.

As a Christian, let me advise those threatening him with Crucifixion. I hear of fake prophets and clerics but I do not know any.

For I all I know, Father Kukah may be one, but fake or not, as Christians move towards Lent and Moslems move towards Ramadan, Crucifixion for a Priest as a threat is nothing but tantamount to throwing a banana before a monkey, it will simply relish it.

Rather if they know of skeletons in his cupboard, like collecting money from the government in the past or photographs of him in a secret meeting with the opposition, they can try those.

Crucifixion to a priest is a sure way to Glory, nothing will please a Catholic priest more than to be treated like Jesus Christ.

This advice is completely free.
