The Ping Pong between Ondo State Government and the Presidency

Ping pong is also known as Table Tennis. It is a very interesting game. It involves back and forth like the one between Ondo State government and the Presidency over the presence of herdsmen in Ondo's forest reserves.

It is a known fact that security of lives and property are key for the survival of a people. Any government worth its salt takes those two very serious.

Today, in Nigeria security is on the front burner because not since the Nigerian civil war has security deteriorated so much in various parts of the country.

It is not surprising that Ondo State government is taking a tough measure of asking herdsmen to leave Ondo forest reserves.

There are various ways of looking at the order. Garba Shehu, one of the Presidential spokesmen has chosen to see the order as a violation of the Nigerian Constitution.

Ondo State government have responded that they are fighting criminality as the reserves were being misused as a den of kidnappers.

Just like Ping pong is entertaining, outsiders are watching with keen interest.

One way the matter could deteriorate is to see the quit order as discriminatory. In response, there could be a retaliation.

However in retaliating one wonders where it will come from. The Presidency? North west? Or where?

Ondo is but one state. Afenifere is behind them. Miyetti Allah is behind the herdsmen.

Should we expect more fireworks?
