Community Policing and widespread insecurity

Lagos State is today so unsafe that gory tales of armed robbery are now

widespread.

The blame for the widespread insecurity is laid at the doorstep of #EndSars and the concomitant loss of arms and morale by the Police.

Whether as a response or part of an old plan, Lagos State Police command have come up with the idea of community Policing.

My mind tells me that the community policemen would now be known for all that is both good and bad of the Nigerian Police.

That should not be a surprise. But the question is since they are new, should they not be different?

That is where the problem lies. What will happen is that now, we will have the police breathing down our necks.

But another question is if it will improve security of lives and property? Most likely but the cost should not be too much. This is due to rising cost of living.

One of the major duties of government is the security of lives and property. To do that without harming our pockets will be very much welcome.
