First City Monument Bank and paternity scandal

Acting MD, FCMB

My first encounter with First City

Monument Bank was when I tried to access my account with them courtesy of their merger with another bank where I had an account.

Whereas with the first bank, I was having difficulty accessing my account, FCMB made it quite easy.

I personally do not like doing business with one man entities, but that my first encounter with them, made me change towards them.

The bad press given them by the paternity scandal is the subject of this discourse. We Nigerians are highly religious but very amoral.

It is sad that the scandal broke. Perhaps this could help organizations do something about illicit relationships in offices. That FCMB made their Managing Director go on leave is highly instructive.

Female and male employees sometimes face sexual harassment. Some do it willingly.

The case of FCMB could help Banks and other corporate bodies do something about such awkward relationships. Truth be told between two consenting adults, married or unmarried, it may not be a crime punishable by law.

But businesses do not make money solely from the law, otherwise FCMB would have looked the other way.

I personally would not want my marriage to end based on doubtful paternity and so I believe many other persons.

The sooner corporate bodies rein in their staff, the better for business, family and society.
