Nasir El Rufai: Kaduna State Governor In the matter of insecurity in Nigeria, Governor Nasir El Rufai has cried out over the crippling situation whereby State Governors are Chief Security Officers only in name. The question is, if connected as El Rufai is, he is complaining, then who would not complain? It goes to show how insensitive the Nigerian governance architecture is. For Governors in Nigeria are the single most powerful power Bloc in Nigeria and they are unhappy, then why are they not fighting it? That they are powerful is not in doubt, but their sense of patriotism comes into question if collectively they cannot fight a scourge they detest. Perhaps, it is a question of their being in a vantage position to enjoy the centralized power, so complain with an eye on the cherry. The next election is always around the corner and it may well be one of them in the saddle.
