NIN versus NCDC

Security is a serious business, no wonder it is competing with biking as a serious employer of labour. Never

mind the pay. At least, the people have a job they call theirs.

As the second wave of Covid - 19 looms, insecurity is baring it's fangs Nationwide.

In the midst of these two elephants are the Nigerian citizens. Daily people get robbed of their phones and today, retrieving of phone lines is suspended.

This is really challenging. To curb insecurity, people have to be properly identified.

On the other hand, the Covid threat has to be faced head long.

To meet the need for  national Identity number, some Covid - 19 protocols may be compromised.

My take is that, government needs to show more commitment to registering the people. On the surface, people may appear to be unwilling to get registered, but how friendly is the process?

Roadblocks all the way. If the government is sincere, the process should be made easier for all.

Thank God, the private sector is now involved. Certainly, this is encouraging but when figures get called per person registered, a fresh debate will erupt.

For now let the registration go on easily to avoid breaching Covid - 19 protocols.

The National Centre for Disease Control can ill afford damaging and demoralizing new figures of infection.
