Finidi, begging is not bad

Image
Victor Osimhen is in the eye of the storm because, Coach Finidi George claimed he cannot beg him to play for his country. According to George Bernard Shaw, 'those who can do, and those who can't teach'. Finidi did not beg Osimhen and Finidi did not win. If Finidi could not beg Osimhen, he needed not complain after losing  It is not begging, it is planning and prioritizing. A Coach is a teacher. Teachers are judged by the results of their pupils. It takes skills to manage talent. In the hey days of Muhammed Ali, his coach Angelo Dundee had a way with him. Whenever, he needed Ali to do something like using his left jab, all he did was to say how he loved the left jab. It is a win win situation. The Coach doesn't shout but he gets his message across. Given another chance, Finidi would realize he is no more a player but a coach that needs all available players. His job is to make the players play . He cannot play. He has to get the players to play by all means necessary. I

Who will save us from this Odium?

When Obj faced Hardtalk, baba was really flustered especially with regards to Iyabo Obadanjo's corruption case. I shudder to think of how Emilokan will handle the foreign press, each time he travels out. Take the case of the inauguration of the South African President. I know corruption knows no boundaries but can one trust foreigners not to kiss and tell? But how many of them can be compromised? So far Emilokan has not granted the kind of interview that will assuage the pains of Nigerians from the assault of the February 2023 Elections. Time they say, heals all wounds but how can you reconcile recalling a 1993 Election and wishing away the pains of a 2023 Election? Honestly this is harder than attempting the ascent of Olumo rock on a bicycle. Emilokan has a big headache. I doubt if it can be cured. Reputation apart. The economy is a festering wound only a turn around can heal. How can there be a turn around where there is no trust? You do not ride roughshod over the people and ex
