Enemies at work

In the wake of the economic suffocation occasioned by Emilokan, Cholera happens!

I could not understand it but as a

student of Economics something crossed my mind.

Lagos state, one of the states affected issued a hurried statement that it was from Tiger nut drink.

To further give the dog a bad name, the Lagos Statement said, the Tiger nut drink that caused the Cholera was not NAFDAC registered.

I used to treat conspiracy theories with laughter but no more.

I recall a consultant telling a group with yours truly included that it was necessary to create turbulence in the market to make gains. What say you?

Now, when I read the Lagos State statement, what came to my mind is, if Tiger nut caused Cholera in Lagos, what is the cause in other states?

This is where I fully get the picture that some mischief makers are deliberately trying to distort the market. The market?

Yes, indeed. The market. Can you believe that Kunu and Zobo are now to be avoided!

I am not an epidemiologist but I know that Cholera is a water borne disease that thrives on filth but how come Tiger nut, Kunu and Zobo are causing Cholera at a time when the price of softdrinks ostensibly approved by NAFDAC are heading north?

It is a pity that things are not normal in Nigeria otherwise, I would have wished for a detailed investigation to give the lie to my conspiracy theory.

The first conspiracy theory you must not disbelieve is that everyone has an enemy.

Tiger Nut, Zobo, Kunu, the poor and Nigeria, have an enemy. If in doubt, read WikiLeaks!

  1. My Oga, why is it that we are always looking for the easy way out of situations in our country. Like you rightly said, Cholera is a water borne disease. If Tiger nut is implicated, it is more from the water used in it's production and less from the tiger nut as a crop. Why didn't the state government dig into the source of water which will definitely get to other processes since water affects many activities in our daily life.

  2. It's very unfortunate that government officials wants to kill the little business which the common man is surviving on, I know a family whose means of survival depends on kunu, tiger but and abacha, tell me how are they going to survive this harsh economy now. May God have mercy on us. Amen.
