When soldiers were ambushed in Okuama community, it was a sacrilege but when soldiers are killed in the North, it is termed terrorism. In Okuama, the traditional ruler gave himself up to the Police and the Police handed him over to the Army. In the North, territories where soldiers are killed are either forests or headless entities. This is why you hear the likes of Sheikh Gumi, describe miscreants and

Yahaya Bello and EFCC

Image
It was Barack Obama who posited that Africa's problem is not corruption but weak institutions. Can you believe that EFCC is thinking of using the army to arrest, Yahaya Bello? How low can they go? What happens when the EFCC need to arrest the Army Chief? Whose help would they enlist? In a country where a traditional ruler surrenders to the police and the police hand him over to the army. Many people have been calling for military intervention but History teaches that humans do not learn from History, hence History keeps repeating itself. After about twenty five years of civilian rule without much to show for it, amnesia has set in and many are calling for military rule. Hmmmm. I wish such people luck but they should remember IBB and Abacha. The damage done by the duo still hurts us, but people feel the cure for a problem is a change of approach. Every system comes with it's challenges. It is like a person who feels the cure for a mechanical problem is a change of machine. Wh

Between Politics and Economics

Image
President Tinubu wants us to believe that our economy would improve in the coming weeks. I say, Amen. Tinubu should know that politics is superior to Economics. It is like a situation where a child prostitute becomes a bread winner in a family. In pains and shame will the family live. I won't put it beyond Tinubu to make things bad only to do the needful and claim credit. Nigerians may like a better economy but nothing can replace the will of the people. A servant cannot be greater than his master and still remain a servant. Tinubu showed utmost bad faith by declaring that it is his turn and by means unknown and unclear actualized the declaration. That is not the way of democracy. A democrat should court the people not the electoral umpire and the courts. Any address of note, Tinubu has, he should pass it through the courts and INEC because, they not the people made him, President. Even in Medicine, a doctor which a President should be, needs the cooperation of the patient. Even P

The French man, Lord Montesquieu who gave the world, the theory of separation of powers must be reeling with laughter in his grave for what Nigeria is practicing today under separation of powers. In Montesquieu's theory, the Executive,

The most powerful cabal in Nigeria

Image
One of the most available fallbacks to frustrated Nigerians big and small is the word, cabal. For my money, the one cabal among vilified cabals is the Generator sellers. They are holding Nigeria by the jugular. The best President Nigeria will have, will to my reckoning, be he or she that can demystify the Generator sellers. By the manner by which Tinubu became President, he appears strong but asking him to defeat the Generator cabal is like asking Satan to tame Lucifer. A Nigerian number 4 man, once asked a committee on Power, what they want to become of the Generator Industry should public power become stable? If our Speaker can say that, you now imagine where his allegiance lies? People swear on the Koran and Bible but underneath, they have their charms. Our oaths are as effective as our allegiance. Traditional African societies were more honest than what we have now because of our present alloyed allegiance, 40% to the foreign God and 60% to the African god. We claim we know God b
