Yahaya Bello and EFCC

It was Barack Obama who posited that Africa's problem is not corruption but weak institutions. Can you believe that EFCC is thinking of using the army to arrest, Yahaya Bello?

How low can they go? What happens when the EFCC need to arrest the Army Chief? Whose help would they enlist?

In a country where a traditional ruler surrenders to the police and the police hand him over to the army.

Many people have been calling for military intervention but History teaches that humans do not learn from History, hence History keeps repeating itself.

After about twenty five years of civilian rule without much to show for it, amnesia has set in and many are calling for military rule. Hmmmm.

I wish such people luck but they should remember IBB and Abacha.

The damage done by the duo still hurts us, but people feel the cure for a problem is a change of approach.

Every system comes with it's challenges. It is like a person who feels the cure for a mechanical problem is a change of machine.

When the military come in, they start by suspending the constitution. Thereafter they start rolling out Decrees.

When Abacha announced Olu Onagoruwa as Chief Lawmaker of Nigeria, before he moved from his base in Lagos to Abuja, six new Decrees were rolled out in his name.

That is the military for you. Anything goes and you may ask questions but expect no answers.

When Onagoruwa, summoned courage and resigned, his first son was assassinated. This gave the poor man stroke.

Please, civilian rule is bad but only strong institutions can make it work. Military rule is rule of force. Even communism is embracing _freedom.

Next to air, man needs freedom to breathe.

  1. My Oga. This Yahaya case is disheartening. A Federal agency went out for a mission to arrest a former governor, he calls his anointed son who comes with state government power to rubbish a federal agency and the federal agency was watching helplessly like an orphan as their target was ferried away. Now the federal government is declaring the same man wanted and planning to use the army to arrest the same man that was moved away through their nose. "Penny wise, pound foolish".
