Finidi and not Amunike
It is Finidi and not Amunike but I stand with Mumuni Alao.
Mumuni Alao, believes, whoever is made Coach be he Local or Foreign should be given a contract and the
contract respected.Christian Chukwu who was National Coach has just revealed that the NFF have been owing him for the past 19 years. Hmm.
The opacity of our system makes it difficult for us to honour contracts.
This explains why we never employ hot headed coaches. The hot headed coaches will always complain against interference and extortion.
Coaches worth their salt go for big pay and promise super performance and will not brook interference by way of imposition of players and wanting to have a say in technical issues like camping sites and choice of opponents for friendly matches.
Typical of Nigerian public officials, the NFF is a goldmine for some. It presents an opportunity to boss, someone with a better pay.
Like Policemen at a checkpoint, you have to settle the officials so that they authorize your pay. The officials, impose players in whom they have an interest. The interest is not limited to bribery but add - ons like marrying their children as an insurance against loss of form.
Findi George like any other coach with good players will succeed, all things being equal if the terms of his contract are respected without undue pressure.
One thing we must avoid, is more haste, less speed.
Westerhoff did not succeed overnight. He failed to qualify Nigeria to Italia 90 but did well in 1994
That was five years: Silver in Afcon 90, Bronze in 1992 and Gold in 1994.
So with Finidi, a mark should be set. His needs met and all hands on deck to see him perform within the employment criteria, set for him.
True talk.
