World Bank, cannot be serious

I used to kid myself that World Bank and IMF, were for the good of the world. But, now, I know better.

Expecting world Bank and IMF to pull any poor country out of poverty is like

expecting richmen to use their funds to promote a poor man into their club.

Does it surprise any one that leadership of the two Institutions are exclusive to Europe and the US?

If we must lead, then we have to think outside the box like, I am doing now.

Can you imagine the world bank saying that poverty has reduced in Nigeria by 7% due to the wider spread in internet coverage?

I do not in the least doubt them but have they not seen the hike in inflation as a result of so called withdrawal of subsidy?

Going for Chinese loans is a way of avoiding draconian conditionalities of the world bank and IMF that make it easier for poor countries to remain stooges of the rich west.

Ordinarily, the World Bank and IMF are for countries of the world but that is as far as it goes.

Privileges are based on contribution and the poor contribute less and benefit less but even those benefits come with conditions that would further impoverish the poor by making them dependent on the rich who are ever looking for guinea pigs and testing grounds for their research products.

We too can research. We too can make new goods but our leaders are too beholden to the rich countries to think independently like Mandela. Sad.
