Of all the things to engage our attention......

News of organ theft in Calabar and men walking about with bitter kola left me angry.

In this century, of all the things to

engage the attention of an ancient city like Calabar, it is the theft of private part.

I wonder if we are not thinking of catching up with the rest of the world?

Giant strides are being made world wide. Electoral heist in Nigeria. Naira is crashing. Corruption everywhere.

It is bitter kola and fear of the theft of private part that is the prerogative of the people of Calabar.

I believe the politicians there will be loving it.

It diverts attention from their failures but it tells of the kind of agenda, they are setting for the people.

Remember, the election promise of a Commissioner for enjoyment in nearby Akwa Ibom State.

To think that the world is a global village and the internet is widely available.

The Governor and people of Cross River State, should think of a more meaningful past time than this inane story of bitter kola and disappearing private part.

There are certainly more things to worry about.

In terms of education, time there was when Cross River was numbered among the educationally disadvantaged states in Nigeria.

That disappearing private part is dominating discourse in their State Capital should not be a surprise.

The surprise is that the politicians are not bothered about the type of work their young boys and girls are doing in more developed cities elsewhere. That should be their priority. As an oil producing State they certainly can do better in uplifting the standard of their people mentally and otherwise.
