Re looting, the Loot

It is interesting that the courts are asking past Presidents to account for recovered Abacha loot.

It is interesting that we are talking of Abacha loot. I wonder if there is any

legal framework for the recovery of Presidential loot?

Should there be a framework, the Law being blind, Abacha would not be the only name on the list. This I believe.

There is virtue in following the rule of Law.

Another gap is the legal framework for disposing of the recovered loot.

Were that to be the case, we would not be asking for a few past leaders to account for the loot of one of theirs.

At least it would have been easier for questions to have knowledgeably arise instead of the spasmodic remarks of only a few cynical people.

It is never late.

Even our anti corruption agencies are not left out.

Seizures should be guided by law. All over the place, we are inundated by signs of seizures, decay and disillusion.

These displays of disorder can be avoided by putting in place legal structures that are within the purview of the public.

  1. This is very deep. How come it is only Abacha?

Has the looting stopped? Going by what Godwin Emefilele revealed about disbursement to the ministry of humanitarian affairs. The looting under S. Abacha is nothing compared with the present looting.

    God help Nigeria. Amen.

  2. My question is what would have happened if Abacha did not die? Would anyone have been able to query his stupendous wealth? Nigerians generally have continued to display so much cowardice and inability to confront all past thieves of national wealth that things will only go from bad to worse since everyone trends to follow the sad paths left by those who have appeared bigger than the country to bring to book
