What is MURIC talking about?
Muslim Rights Concern are taking on Governor Ademola Adeleke for marginalizing Christians in what they described as not only major
appointments but also juicy appointments.
I am a Christian and I will be appalled if Christian Association of Nigeria describes any appointment as juicy.
At a time, in my children's school, the most influential teacher, Miss Tolu was not teaching a major subject but Social Studies and Home Economics.
I recall at that time, invariably she was always the only one that would give them homework.
By the same token, MURIC should see all appointments from the dimension of service and not what the appointees stand to make.
Away from the juicy angle of the appointments, I suspect that MURIC is up to something.
While they are investigating the appointees to know how Islamic they are, MURIC is also wondering if the Governor who recently started bearing Nurudeen is not playing into the hands of those who think he is a secret christian.
As a Christian, I feel uneasy whenever the point is made that our corrupt politicians belong to either the Muslim or Christian faith.
For that reason, I think Christian Association of Nigeria and MURIC should ensure that those of their members who make it to government live above board.
They should call them out when they underperform and when they steal.
Sadly in Nigeria, performance tends to make stealing inconsequential.
That is why Peter Obi is standing tall. He performed and his hands were found clean.
For others, people wonder what they do with the monies allocated. For the corrupt ones, projects are the easiest root to pilfering. That was why Chinua Achebe described Nigeria as the country with the highest cost of government projects in the world.
For all you know, MURIC may be attacking Ademola Adeleke for yet to be disclosed reasons. Eventually, I believe the truth will be revealed on the top of the roof.
