Weeping more than the bereaved

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is complaining that Nigerian Doctors are being under valued abroad. She wants Doctors in Nigeria to

discourage their colleagues from seeking greener pastures abroad.

Interestingly, what she said was in response to the demand of the doctors for an increase in their Hazard allowance.

In response to the demand the official responded that Government had committed a lot in training the doctors and that their little hazard allowance was down to dwindling Government revenues.

That medical training is cheaper in Nigeria than abroad is spot on. That the doctors should reciprocate the gesture is also in order.

The problem lies in the lifestyle of Government officials in the face of dwindling revenues.

The doctors had in the past explored the strike option but today they have chosen not to strike but to vote with their feet.

After all Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige who is a medical practitioner had said the doctors could go as they were serving as Export.

Back to the concern of the Head of Service, her call is self serving and bereft of understanding of the Nigerian Economic climate.

Many a young person tired and tested by Nigeria's Economic challenges had taken to crime, the lady is asking the young people not to leave.

They should leave and remember to repatriate their funds until a more responsive Government is in place.
