Atiku's Message

Atiku Abubakar, says he is running for Office of Nigerian President in the

interest of Nigerian youths. How sweet.

The problem is that the youths have nothing to reassure them of this lofty desire.

The youths have nothing as a reference point in making up their minds that candidate Atiku means what he says.

Americans say, talk is cheap. Candidate Atiku needs to do more than talk.

He was Vice President for 8 years. 4 years were spent warding off attacks from his Boss, OBJ.

His first 4 years as VP were not really indicative of his avowed plan for the youths.

His work as Chairman of National Council on Privatization was not really youth friendly.

As a Youth, I remember spending time in the Library of Nigerian Stock Exchange searching for information on African Petroleum, a debtor company that was trying to have its Liabilities repudiated because a vested interest was eyeing the company.

Surprisingly, when Atiku was no more the Chairman of NCP, AP turned a more forthcoming corporate citizen willing to meet up with its obligations.

Just a tip of the iceberg. Atiku was a public servant. He made his money.

Sadly, beyond money, no records to inspire the youths.

Atedo Peterside, made it young. Ebitimi Banigo, Pat Utomi, these are names that youths can rightly see as good examples.

The road that leads to history, is narrow and only a few like the aforementioned manage to pass through.

I recall, an incident when a Boss of mine was celebrating his appointment as MD. Incidentally, Atedo Peterside was around and asked my Boss to my hearing if he was really celebrating being an MD?

Then Atedo Peterside was running his own company and I felt, he wanted my Boss who was a Prize winner in ICAN Examination, to be like him if not surpass him.

Such are the voices that can inspire the young. They made it young and see the good in others.
