What Procter and Gamble lost, Kimberly - Clark, gained

I was reliably informed that Procter and Gamble passed up the opportunity

to open a plant in Agbara area of Ogun State, due to the Nigerian factor.

They were prepared to spend $200m and today another American company in the same line of business of making diapers has committed $100m in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The question is, what is the catch?

Well, it is a battle between the makers of Pampers - Procter and Gamble and the makers of Huggies - Kimberly Clark.

Now you get the picture. Whereas Westerners are more concerned with their welfare and therefore think less of making babies, we are on the opposite end of the pole.

We want to grow and multiply so we are a good market for their products.

The sad aspect of our population growth is that our leaders see overwhelming challenges and outsiders see opportunities.

All the way from USA companies are scrambling to take advantage of our growing population, but our leaders are giving up especially, where they ought to make hay.

What more can be of importance to a caring leader than the education of his people especially the children?

Sadly, our leaders have given up in this most important enterprise. They have ceded their responsibilities to the private sector.

In the end, what suffers is patriotism.
