The Electoral Act as a key player in 2023 Elections

For those with fancy ideas on taking power, the Electoral Act is a major

opponent and tool in the hands of the establishment.

The sad aspect of this development is that with less than one year of campaigns to go, the relevant law to guide the Elections is yet in place.

Many may think this is fortuitous but no, it is aimed at arriving at a pre agreed outcome.

Now some people may begin to see the wisdom in informing the President and not the Law makers before making declarations on the Presidency. Once again, what is playing out is the example of how weak institutions undermine our quest for political development.

On paper, we practice separation of powers but in reality, the Law makers are lackeys of the Executive arm of Government.

Was anyone surprised when EFCC picked up Senator Rochas Okorocha, immediately after expressing interest in running for President?

In continuation of the comedy, Rochas declared that PMB had promised to help him with the EFCC case.

What this means is that the EFCC acts at the say so of the President. Or better still knowing the President could be a vaccine against prosecution by EFCC.

We are waiting and watching.

  1. Well said.

Here is a stronger reason why a significant development might not be seen until we get the basics rights.

Presently, in practice the executive controls everything.
