Softly, Softly Soludo

It was the late Pini Jason who wrote in an article that America is known for

bigness, hence all their things are big from cars to trucks to their talk. Nigeria, he said was known for our eye of the needle mentality, such that we like making things difficult for ourselves from LUTH with two gates and one permanently locked to the Ministry of Commerce Official in Abuja who refused to give him his processed Import Licence in time, lest they suspect him of having collected a bribe to the cleaner that will lock up a public convenience to ensure its cleanliness.

Chukwuma Soludo governor elect of Anambra State is a Macro Economist no wonder he likes talking big.

Recall that he took the Capital Base of Nigerian Banks from N2bn to N25bn. All through, he was all about big ticket transactions.

Today, he has put together a transition committee of 80 heavyweights in a small state like Anambra State.

Not only is the number too big, the number of Professors there is mind boggling.

Anambra have had the good fortune of having good Governors from Peter Obi and Willie Obiano in succession. It is not as if Anambra needs total overhaul.

Some of the people in that team would need personal assistants. It will be convenient to say that they are Soludo's friends and therefore, they will offer pro bono services.

It is easier said than done. Hotel bills alone would be mind boggling.

Forgive me if these heavyweights turn Anambra into Singapore.

  1. I suspect that the idea is to turn Anambra State into the main industrial hub of Nigeria. Warru and Port Harcourt ports should be fixed and made ready for big commercial import and export businesses.

  2. Well said elder P.

    I wish Prof.the very best.

But he doesn't need such a large number. So sad we keep repeating the same thing and expect a different result.

Our Political structures does not encourage growth & development. Party loyalist, friends, families, associates etc are on queue.
