Matawalle's 'Bombshell!'

 Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Governor of Zamfara State, North West, Nigeria, home of Bandits, did make a promise.

Like so many other a big wig in recent times.

He promised to reveal the sponsors of kidnapping in his state. For such a prominent figure, it was expected to be Earth shaking.

Alas it was an anti climax! He delivered on his promise. He gave a lead which in sane societies could be useful but not here.

When late ex Oyo State Governor, and one time Minister of Justice and Nigeria's Attorney General, Bola Ige was murdered in cold blood at home for resigning from OBJ's Government, there was an important lead in unmasking the killers.

The lead was that, about the time the killers came calling the Police guards attached to him, conveniently, dropped their guns and went to eat!

If that was not a lead, then tell me why in the first place they will drop their weapons and then fail to go in turns instead of going together?

Till today, the killers are unknown and why the policemen let down their guards too.

Back to the Executive Governor of Zamfara State and his knockout revelation instead of the expected Bombshell.

For all his grandstanding, his lead was that the security guard of the school where almost three hundred students were abducted had a foreknowledge of the abduction.

Now, could that be the expected Earth shaking revelation? By all means no.

However, it is a lead and a promising one at that. It is just that with that Earth scratching revelation instead of the promised bombshell, the governor's credibility suffers a deficit.
