Nigerians more divided today than ever

We live in very interesting times. The

Hausas are crying for emancipation. To achieve that, they are looking up to the South.

The Southerners are up in arms, in the South West and South East against open grazing, kidnapping and killings.

The most interesting situation is that of cosmopolitan Lagos. On the 20th of October 2020, at the Admiralty Toll Gate, Lekki, many Nigerians were killed in cold blood by the Nigerian military for protesting against police brutality.

The protests were Nationwide. It gave the citizens a voice and the Government of the day responded uncharacteristically, swiftly.

Many turns and twists followed the protests. Today, the effects are still being felt. General insecurity has enveloped the land.

The panel set up in Lagos State to review the protests and receive complaints on police brutality has ordered that the Admiralty Toll Gate, Lekki, Lagos be reopened.

This order is without prejudice to the issues being addressed by the panel. A report wether interim or final has not been submitted. Interestingly, the panel is in a rush to reopen the Toll Gate.

This to say the least is in a bad taste and a protest was staged to that effect. Typical of the Govenment, they sent in security forces to arrest the protesters. What a way to go.

Today, one thing is clear the agitations across the North and South of Nigeria are bound to bring far reaching changes wether the conservatives like it or not.
