Impotent National Assembly in Nigeria's Democracy
Femi Gbajabiamila
Speaker, House of Representatives
Separation of Powers is a mirage in
Nigeria. When Lord Montesquieu propanded the theory of Separation of powers, what he had in mind was a situation where the three arms of government would cooperate on an equal level, not what we have today in Nigeria.Nigeria's Democracy is being held hostage by no one but our Governors. The governors are the indisputable power brokers in our Democracy.
The governor's amass so much wealth and with that hijack power in their various parties. They personify power and are worshipped in their parties.
This happens because our parties are peopled by parasites in politics to better their lot and not about service.
That being the case, the Governors hold court and determine who gets what. From there our legislators are picked with strict instructions on where their loyalties would lie.
The Senate President like Baal is probably asleep and the noise on the evils of Fulani herdsmen has not reached him. Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker has found his voice and he has spoken.
His view has to align with the views of BAT. So far, Nigeria is waiting for his views.
While he is beholden to PMB, his boys are beholden to him.
When puppets hold court, there is no need to think, you just laugh
Judges are under the Shadow of the Executive. Legislators are errand boys of the Executive. Why won't Sunday Igboho, think outside the box?
