#EndSARS protesters and their frozen Accounts

Godwin Emefiele: CBN Governor

While I sympathize with those whose accounts are frozen, I make bold to declare them as martyrs.

What they did is earth shaking and those who are freezing their accounts are reactionary elements who are yet to smell the coffee.

I am surprised to hear some highly placed individuals come out in support of the freezing of the accounts.

What government cannot run away from is that they cannot Approbate and Reprobate at the same time.

On the one hand the government are promising to hearken to the demands of the protesters and on the other hand, they are hounding the leaders of the protests.

Government should not lose sight of the fact that the protests can yet erupt again.

Should that happen, it may take more than a promise to end it. The question of the shooting at Lekki is yet to be addressed and government is throwing up another form or aggression in terms of freezing of accounts.

I wonder if government has considered, the ripple effect of the frozen accounts.

At least, the Lagos State, judicial panel of inquiry was forced into a recess for the same reason, as the government does not know that the panel is a safety valve for the society as grievances stand to be ventilated and addressed.

To interrupt it is to divert energy from the seen to the unseen. I very much would, the government rather choose a seen enemy over an unseen one.

To be fore warned is to be fore armed.

  1. This government has never been sincere right from its formation. Because of increase in price of pms now, the government anticipated another round of protests. Sir I believe another heavy wave of protests is on its way coming. It's quite unfortunate.
