The Ogun State Covid - 19 Test

Our Nigerian leaders are hostages of colonial mentality. In the days of colonialism expecting the colonial officers to love the natives is to miss the point of colonialism which is mercantilism.
About sixty years after Independence, our leaders both elected and appointed have not weaned themselves of this anachronism.
They forget that from the people they come and to the people they are to return.
Nothing demonstrates their ignorance of this truth than their craze for properties abroad. Remember that in the days of colonialism, the colonial officers used to be posted elsewhere. It is the same thing with our leaders who feel that after their term in office they have to relocate.
How many ex governors or local government chairmen remain in their domain after office?
That Ogun State is asking returning Senior secondary three students to undergo  Covid - 19 test is along the same trajectory. The Test is welcome but what is amiss is the attitude of the government.
I am sad that my son is at home unable to write his examination. This should be the attitude of a responsible government. The government should not give the impression that the parents should be subjected to obstacles because they are anxious.
The onus is on the Ogun State government to maintain their enviable educational standard and not to lower it through the love for money. The government should be as anxious as the parents in ensuring that all obstacles are removed on the path to the examinations.
In the same vein government's across the land should assist private and public schools to observe the Covid-19 protocols and not to make it a burden for if the schools are unable to meet up and the children are unable to write their examinations, society suffers.

  1. Good write up, being in government does not mean one knows all. I dont think people in government offices understand what the masses are experiencing especially during this pandemic, if they do Ogun state government would come up with #25000 covid-19 test..
We need people to constantly educate them and call their attention to people's challenge.
