Magu is no mugun

Ibrahim Magu

Ibrahim Magu is a tough customer. He is the acting head of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. For now, he is under suspension and at the same time facing Investigation.
The Investigation is at the instance of his supposed Boss, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
For reasons best known to Ibrahim Magu he failed to recognize Abubakar Malami or work with him.
In a power game of Chess, Malami has set up a panel to try Magu and while at it, he has penciled down names of persons to succeed him.
Quite interesting. PMB may not have sticky fingers but his sense of propriety in terms of appointments and receiving of favours are really suspect.
For a man without means in Nigeria to win an election on his own is possible but that is yet to be seen.
Twice PMB has won elections with funds from persons not known for Industry but for politics. Surely these persons cannot be as straight as PMB, yet they are his benefactors.
It will be most surprising if he does not know that these persons are spending questionable lucre on him.
All these are well known to Magu and he is no Mugun - a Yoruba word for a fool.
He intends to fight and fight dirty. For long Ibrahim Magu had been on tenterhooks, working without confirmation and knowing he has enemies.
A former Presidential spokesman under Yar Adua , Olusegun Adeniyi, had alleged that Magu's travails stemmed from powerful toes he stepped on.
Interestingly, the owners of those toes have denied being responsible for his misfortune. Even Segun Adeniyi has eaten the humble pie saying he was misunderstood and finally that he was misinformed.
Magu is really showing that he is no fool and some of the accusations are really unreasonable.
In the end Malami and his backers would either back down or go in for it.
