Nigerian Railway Corporation and Night travel

  •  This piece was inspired by a cartoon in a popular Nigerian Newspaper. While Ogunpa flood was giving the Olubadan jitters, NEPA was attributing low power supply to a shortage of rain. This prompted the cartoonist to warn NEPA not to let Olubadan hear their prayer for rain.

In the midst of insecurity and against the backdrop of the terrorist attack on the  Abuja - Kaduna train, Nigerian Railway Corporation is mooting the idea of night travel.

Soon and very soon, talk of revenue lagging behind expense will rend the air.

I suggest the Nigerian Railways master day time travel in terms of meeting commuter demands especially in respect of security before jumping into the insecure waters of night travel.

Definitely, I do not doubt that there will be demand for it, but the demand can neither be more than day time demand nor can it be less apprehensive of insecurity.

First things first. The Nigerian Railway Corporation should address day tine security concerns properly before venturing into night time travel. However, they should be guided by the result of their customer survey.
