I disagree, Sir
One of my favourite writers is Eric Teniola. I have never met him in person but I enjoy his writings.
After a lengthy article from him,
supporting a long held view, I respectfully, disagree with him.His essay is of the view that Aso Rock is anti people and is designed to hide the President from the people.
To the extent that it gives the President an excuse not to know the feelings of the people, I say, no.
Any President, who wants to know has several channels to know both local and international.
Thank God for social media.
Tinubu is too streetwise, to rely solely or make himself solely dependent on fawning acolytes.
Any President who wants to gauge the mood of the people has a wide range of choices.
Unlike, the hoi polloi, he has more power to power his television, radio and telephone sets.
The media, may not be totally trusted but they give diverse views. The Nigerian people may be docile but they give free reins to their views.
A man is known by the company he keeps. The President is entitled to private social life.
He has his free time to spend with friends and family. He has the luxury of picking his advisers.
We know very well that he is no man that cannot say no. If the President wants to know the truth, relying on yes men and yes channels are a no, no.
Any President, who prides himself on picking performers for aides cannot be excused from.knowing the feelings of the people. The world is a global village and our President is a man of the world.
I entirely agree with your submission. A servant leader such as the president of a nation who truly has the interest of the citizens at heart, must , as a matter of necessity try by all possible independent means to feel their pulse from time to time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sir. We cannot and should not continue to make excuses for our leaders
DeleteWell said my Oga. We have seen politicians who go to the roadside during campaign to buy roasted corn, akara and boli, we want to see them do same after elections, this may help them to feel the pulse of the masses.
