Promotion at INEC

Ordinarily, promotion in a Government establishment is not as demanding as being promoted in a private organisation.

As a teacher, I was very concerned

about being promoted. However, my concerns were doused when an acquaintance of mine told me of his promotion experience in a government school.

He told me he was confronted by the Principal in the school where he was teaching over a hideous matter.

This guy had a student for a girlfriend in what he thought was a secret affair.

Alas, upon being confronted by the Principal, his bowel moved so involuntarily, he messed his undergarment, a little. That was how scared he was.

However, in spite of that, he still got promoted like others.

Think of what would have been his fate, had it been in a private school.

About 5000 members of staff of INEC have been promoted. Very cheering News, except that promotion by government is not as cheering as in a well structured private organisation.

When government promotes you, you will inform Government that you want to be placed where you should be. Interesting?

You did not promote yourself. Government did but you still have to inform government that your new pay should be effected.

The foregoing not withstanding, Promotion whether in government or in a private institution comes with benefits.

Promotion should be earned but government seems to have very negligible criteria to merit promotion.

In this context, INEC with their disgraceful conduct in the last general elections still promoted a lot of staff.

For what you may wonder?

It is government. The remuneration is not encouraging, so the members of staff look to corruption for succour.

Begrudge them not their promotion. It is yuletide season and they deserve some cheer.

For, their ignoble conduct, blame the leadership just like we expect nothing but disaster from our topmost political leadership as their emergence was not democratic but autocratic.
