Why warders borrow money from inmates
There is a News report that Warders are denying borrowing money from inmates.
Do not believe the report. Borrowing
money from inmates is more credible to me than not borrowing from them.As a little boy, I witnessed policemen who came for an arrest begging for cutlery from him, whom they came to arrest.
The question is why should I prefer believing rumour mongers to the government?
It is the same reason why poorly paid security men would rather align with the robber than their patrons.
Disloyalty is bad but loyalty has to be earned.
If you must have high profile detainees then you have to make their minders comfortable too lest, they fall into temptation.
It is a question of saying, what have I to lose?
The minders of the prisoners, what have they to lose?
Accommodation, regular salaries, opportunities for loans, cafeteria services, scholarship scheme for their children, decent schools for their children, health Insurance?
The mentioned are gaps that detainees may plug for the warders.
The tragedy of the Nigerian situation is that over time, our leaders have failed to rise to the occasion in terms of welfare of workers but selfishly adopt an opulent life style.
It's a pity that there was a country.
