Full Circle
This piece was inspired by the News report of the kidnap of a powerful Anambra medicine man. Furthermore, the failed assassination attempt on a powerful pastor and report that native herbs sellers garnish their products with anti biotics.
Honestly, I am just at a loss over the above events.
I thought the medicine man had a powerful reputation. Could it be the case of a more powerful medicine at work or that the medicine man was fake?
As a Christian, I do not believe, I need to go for charms, but I do not doubt the existence of devilish and powerful charms.
Otherwise, medicine men would not be in business but when a medicine man now relies on other means for protection and end up easy meat for his adversaries, you cannot but wonder if that is not turning full circle?
I am a patriot and frown at the desecration of our values. I am not unmindful of the effects of interaction and globalisation but we should not be ashamed to say and act who we are.
When a medicine man starts wearing foreign bullet proofs, then it must be foolish for any one to trust his local bullet proof.
Pastors pray for us to be protected but protect themselves with bullet proof cars and guns. Isn't this full circle?
If herbalists believe in their herbs, why garnish it with anti biotics?
Could this be civilization or a lack of faith?
I know the world is now a global village but we should be conscious of the lies and deceits of colonization and globalization.
It is all competition and survival at play. We should know this and know peace.
It pains me to see the length to which we go to denigrate our values even when we clearly see the west live large on our wealth.
The gold and diamond mines are ours and yet, it is the west who flaunt these riches. How come?
They give us crumbs to invest in their organized societies borne of blood and tears while tearing us apart and arming us to main and kill ourselves. Very sad!
Are these secrets? No.
Yet, we validate ourselves by spitting on our values if only the west will honour us.
It is not honour but dishonour. Whoever honours his slave or hireling over his son?
We have turned full circle. We can still rediscover ourselves. It is not too late.
