Tribute to St Obi

His real name was Obinna Nwafor. He was a romantic actor.

He revelled in the kind of films, I

wouldn't feel comfortable watching with children. But he was good in what he did.

He was blessed with good looks. The kind of looks that most women would rather have on a friend than on a husband.

This may perhaps explain the kind of marriage he had, according to a close friend and colleague, of his.

Growing up, I had a passion for acting and writing.

I would have taken up a career in.the Arts but I was scared. I knew resisting the opposite sex was going to be a challenge, so I stayed away from both Priesthood and the Arts.

Talk of two opposites with the same risk. Avoiding Priesthood because of women and Arts because of women!

The Arts and Priesthood give you the kind of fame that puts you totally in the hands of benefactors.

From.the account of Zik Okafor, it was more like a powerful woman marrying a gifted and handsome man while, fearing competition from other women.

Apparently, in return for forcing Obi out of the limelight, the wife made as much as possible, available to him. This somehow rightly or wrongly cast Obi in the mould of a gold digger.

That is life. I believe in the natural order of things. Not that I do not like technology but it should enhance the natural order not the other way.

A man who marries a powerful woman should for the sake of chemistry play the role  woman and let the woman lead, especially in public.

Any other way is fruitless and potentially problematic. From marriage St Obi lost his craft and now perhaps his life.

I hope there is a defence from the wife. All in all, May his Soul Rest In Peace. Amen.
