Hurricane Wike

Nyesom Wike is no stranger to controversy. He seems to enjoy it.

Free from the political misadventure that his invitation to President - Elect, BAT to come commission projects in his

State, Rivers State, he has jumped into another one.

This time, it is with the Bayelsa State Government. Two of their buildings in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital are said by Rivers State Government,  to be constituting a nuisance and therefore marked for demolition.

Honestly, this is a new one on me. Two sister states fighting to the point of marking buildings for demolition.

As far as State creations go, the previous scandal I filed away in my memory is the case of drivers driving away vehicles after State creation.

After Osun State was carved out of Oyo State, I heard of Osun State indigenes who are government drivers, driving away their vehicles to their new state.

Although, this was during Military era, but I found it absurd. There should be records of assets but with the Military, you never can tell.

This is no military era but the Bayelsa State government have responded to the threat by getting court papers.

The question is, from which state will the court papers come, Bayelsa or Rivers?

More likely, Rivers but since we operate a federal System, they could well be from Bayelsa.

Should they be from Rivers, would Wike obey?

Remember, PMB has no respect for even the Supreme court.

Wike, who is a Barrister and wife a High court judge, may do same. I am not a lawyer, but if you ask me, the Bayelsa State government should approach the supreme court, since we have equality of states and one judiciary cannot be bigger than  another.

The Drama unfolds and at centre stage is hurricane Wike, CON, ex Local Government Chairman, ex Chief of Staff to ex Governor Rotimi Amaechi and ex Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

  2. Why are strange things happening few days to the end of governments, the said buildings were they just built or the governor is just noticing them, but government is a continuous process, maybe he feels his anointed son- governor will not be as strong as he is to be able to carry out the demolition.
