The Police we need

 

The Police we need is a well trained Police Force. The question is who will do the training?

Let us look at the process of training

our policemen.

The Police colleges are peopled by people who perhaps miss the perks of operational duties.

The Police trainees are so extorted that they cannot wait to finish their training to start preying on the populace.

There are occupational hazards. I wonder the kind of people that go into the police force, our police force?

The truth is that very few people go into the police force out of a dislike for crime or a desire to fight crime.

So then who are the people that populate our police force?

The way our society is, people go for professions that spew money, legitimate money.

The conditions of service of the police, our police are not such that make the police, a profession of choice.

Often, it is a last resort for people unable to get their dream job.

The next question is whose duty it is to make the police, a profession of choice?

It is our leaders who are neck deep in crime of various dimensions and would care less about crime fighting except when their interests are affected.

For so long as these conditions persist having a responsive and responsible police and policing would continue to be a mirage.
