Nollywood can learn from Bollywood
I do not know much about India but what they do with their films is commendable and their reputation in Medicine is wonderful.
As a young boy, not much was thought
of Indian education but beyond their population and stories of poverty, I think there is a lot to recommend them. For one, their defence of their culture is amazing due largely to the activism of Mahatma Gandhi.
This Indian politician led Indians in exchanging their English wears for Indian fabrics.
Today, India has a thriving textile Industry. It is not like all Indians abandoned their English wears but at least Indian fabrics speak for themselves.
I know sex sells in Nigeria like many parts of the world, but how do you feel about the large following Indian films enjoy in Nigeria?
Personally, I grudgingly join my children in watching Indian films. My grudge is that they are foreign not that they are not entertaining. The patriot in me would have preferred watching Nigerian films with my children but the lurid tone of most of our films make me wince and change the channel often times.
The Indians I do not really know but they combine romance with beautiful stories without ruining daddy and daughter moments with lurid and indecent acts.
Very few of our films whether indigenous or English can match this.
You can be romantic without spewing indecent words or showing indecent pictures.
We have a censors board but our people need to be responsible and up their game in projecting who we are and where we ought to be.
