Funke Akindele: I plead guilty!

Films give entertainment and educate as well.

Funke Akindele, is a young lady that is pushing boundaries and entertaining.

Beginning with her block burster,

Jenifa, followed by Omo Ghetto and now My siblings and I, she has left no one in doubt as to the direction, she is moving.

When she ran as running mate to Jandor in the 2023 Elections for Governor of Lagos State, I dismissed it as a show off.

But please, she deserves to be there. My evidence is the content of her creations.

Her works are on society, it's ills and the young.

If I could indulge myself, I think she fits the bill of an Obidient.

Honestly if any contemporary, Nigerian entertainer deserves to be in politics, I think Funke Akindele fits the bill.

On another level but still relevant to the society, she had tried hard to wear the toga of a married woman.

For effort, she gets high marks. Society is want to judge entertainers harshly as wayward but her being single is not for want of effort.

She has been in two marriages and she is a mother.

I wish her success in her craft and her mission of trying to bring meaningful change to society in terms of perceptions and issues of the young and their choices. 

May her well of creativity keep deepening. Amen.

She may her have failed in her first attempt, at running for a high profile office, but to my mind, by her works, she has paid her dues. Running for office should be a necessary next step.
