The worth of Obasanjo's Endorsement

 

A lot has been said about Obasanjo's endorsement of Peter Obi. The question is if the endorsement is worth it?

Those in Obi's corner are ecstatic. Those not in his corner are

disappointed.

Those who did not get the endorsement are trying hard to downplay it.

But the question remains if it is worth it at all?

 For the leading candidates to have sought it, there has to be something in it.

Obasanjo is a two time head of government who enjoys international recognition and does not shy away from giving his views on national and International issues.

He has loyalists in all strata of society. One thing is clear. Obasanjo's endorsement indicates where his loyalty lies.

Those who trust him and and are convinced of his choices would most likely vote for Peter Obi, if they are undecided.

I doubt if the powers that be would not be careful in handling Peter Obi's political interests.

That other candidates are trying to downplay the endorsement is an indication of their worry at what it can do to their electoral fortune.

The truth of the matter is that Obasanjo like other like minds is unconvinced about the records of APC and PDP.

Like Obasanjo, since the days of #ENDSars, Nigerians have been longing for a third force and Obi and the Labour Party represent the third force.

Peter Obi is no neophyte. He is not an upstart. He is not grey. He has a colour and it is clear.

He represents what is lacking in other leading candidates and that is PROBITY.
