GEJ: An uncaring society is a recipe for chaos
GEJ says Civil Servants are corrupt because of the uncertainty of tomorrow. Well said.
However, the uncertainty is not for
them alone. It cuts across all strata of society. Thanks to God for using Obj to introduce contributory Pension.
The agony of Pensioners would have been worse.
In respect of the civil service, Late Murtala Mohammed did the service great damage with his mass retirement thereby shattering the myth of job security in the civil service
That alone did not make the service corrupt for it was already corrupt but it gave the corruption a royal toga and an excuse.
For so long as our leaders fail to address the yearnings of the people, 'Otoge' will always resonate beyond Kwara.
The Obi - Datti movement for those who do not know is an, ' Otoge' . Those who have ears let them hear.
The Obi - Datti regime, should it come, will not be perfect, just like no society is perfect but the narrative would have changed.
It will be like an out of school child, who suddenly finds himself in school and in time, he starts questioning the quality of teaching, wondering if he made the right choice?
So Obi- Datti would not be El Dorado but discerning minds would appreciate and those who lost out would lead the front lines in clamouring for the past like the out of school child.
