Oil theft and our Economic Security
Nigeria's Economy is largely dependent on Oil exports. Like the rest
of the world, Nigeria is facing Economic challenges.Oil theft is by the day growing. Nigeria's revenue is dwindling as Oil theft is growing.
Nigeria has a Government led by an Army General who is experienced in Oil matters having served and is still serving as Oil Minister.
The Government appears unprepared to tackle the menace, meanwhile, Nigeria has a Navy. I believe checking such acts of sabotage is part of the call of duty of the Nigerian Navy.
Rather than police the Oil business for maximum returns, the Government is busy increasing Taxes not minding that the citizens are bearing a lot of burden.
It is really sad that our Armed forces even in peace time are unable to protect us the citizens and the Nation's Economic life line.
I hope the Government realizes that Economic security is part of their schedule of duty.
Nigerians are not asking for too much.
