Of Change and the Status Quo
On paper, PDP and APC have both lost out both today and in the
immediate future. But as the better known Parties they have to struggle for survival. PDP are in power in some States but the more relevant and unfortunately, more disappointing and discredited is the APC.
As the Party in Government at the centre, a lot will be expected from them to ensure they are not disgraced from office.
I am at a loss over the plan by the PMB Government to organize a head count in 2023.
To have a Head count is important but the Census can wait till after the 2023 Elections.
Even at that, should the APC lose or win the Elections, a Census should not be the immediate priority of a new Government but fence mending.
Obj has for sometime now been warning against any attempt to rig the 2023 Elections.
Like a concerned citizen, he wants a change of approach in governance which Peter Obi represents.
I just hope the 2023 Census is not another trick to postpone the elections. This can happen should the results of the Census become overtly contentious. Of course the ready excuse would be that the government would not want to hand over under cloudy circumstances.
Well my take on that is that it would be better to have an orderly change than an acrimonious and emotional change which could lead to loss of lives.
2023 Elections is a good opportunity for Nigerians to take back Nigeria, peacefully. Any attempt to scuttle the elections would be akin to setting the house on fire.
I suspect a postponement because of this proposed census given the following - most of the senators and reps lost their primary tickets (in fact a lot will happen with the loss of ticket by Lawan), they may rather want to elongate their tenure and support that proposal. The future intention is in the cloud and every action going forward will begin to open it up for those who read the moves smartly.
ReplyDeleteMan proposes but God disposes. They plan, God plans, who doesn't know that God is the best planner.
