Muslim/ Muslim Ticket as a shot in the wrong direction
I sympathize with BAT for having to
pick a Muslim as a running mate. Politically, it may be defensible with an eye on northern votes. However, all in all given the prevailing circumstances in Nigeria, it appears very insensitive. To an average politician, what matters is the votes.
BAT does not strike me as a religious fanatic. He is even married to a Christian.
His cross is that he is a Muslim in search of northern votes. To an average Christian with fears of Islamization of Nigeria, not having a Christian on the APC Presidential ticket is akin to a shot in the wrong direction. Similar to what Small Doctor would describe in Yoruba as kicking a Penalty to throw in.
In 2015, not a few critics of APC saw them as an Islamic Party. With PMB's terrible score card and mounting insecurity across the land and many christians worried for their safety, a Muslim/ Muslim ticket does APC no good at all.
As an Obidient person, it confines APC into history and negates the current drive towards a new direction.
The new thinking is that a new approach should be the prescription that offers Nigeria a way out of our current economic and social maladies.
To think and act otherwise is to play the ostrich.
