The trouble with Nigeria
Chinua Achebe is no more alive, but
this is the time to dig up his little book of the above title. In that book Chinua Achebe made a claim that Nigeria has the highest cost of public project all over the world.
Lagos State is probably the most indebted State in Nigeria. Lagos State has the highest IGR in Nigeria.
Where do all the monies go?
Governor El Rufai says to tame godfathers, you stop paying them.
BAT determines who rules Lagos.
Where do all the monies go?
Lagos State embarks on big projects like Oshodi and Ajah terminals. Of course those projects have equals elsewhere but make no mistake about it, their cost in Nigeria would according to Achebe be out of this world.
BAT is very wealthy. He calls the shots in Lagos State that has lots of projects, large IGR and humongous debt profile.
Do you wonder where BAT makes his money? Look no further.
Agberos collect fees. Where do the monies go?
The Godfather should know.
BAT wants to be President. I admire his courage. The only problem is that he is corrupt and Nigeria is broke.
Bad fit, isn't it? Secondly, it is the turn of the South East.
I sympathize with BAT because loss of income is agonizing. Ordinarily, he could just hold unto Lagos and not bother about Nigeria but that is dangerous.
As #EndSARS proved, he who rules Nigeria, needs Lagos. If he ignores Federal might, he could be dispossessed of Lagos.
The lesson is that nothing lasts forever. Some people were in charge of Lagos before him. Perhaps it is now the turn of MC.
Good day sir. Everything about him and his contenders is selfishness. Just disguising and deceiving all. A visionary leader by now should have a documentary of our mistakes as a nation dovetailing to problems we are facing and highlight the approaches he or she intends to apply devoid of sentiments which would be practical and convincing to majority. If their belief of winning an election anytime is still money bag approach or looking for sympathy votes because of frustrations from another party or their party leaders, it's all deceits to Nigerians only if the voters realise this. I have not seen any true leader among all of them other than rogues, thugs and pretenders warming up to enrich themselves and their families and friends. However, one thing keeps coming to my mind day-in, day-out and that is history may repeat itself in a slightly different form. God bless the country with the best and sincere leaders we pray for soonest. Aameen.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir.
You have the potentials for selfless leadership
