Stranger than Fiction
Nigerians sometimes, talk of Wazobia
but what is happening today is stranger than Fiction.Nnamdi Kanu is in detention. Sunday Igboho is similarly in detention but not in UK but Benin Republic.
In the North where our retired General of a President comes from, the leader of the insurgents is unknown and untouched.
Is it normal?
Of course not. In the days of GEJ, Army Chief, Ihejirika tried to do in the north what the Nigerian Army does in the East, and there were shouts of ICC and the rest.
Today, Ihejirika is gone and the northerners are in charge. In spite of the promises of PMB, monies get voted to fight the insurgents and many years after they are still fighting, killing and kidnapping.
The most interesting part of this narrative is that both Kanu and Igboho never ventured beyond their homelands of East and West respectively and yet they have been apprehended.
The Northern insurgents operate in the north, East and West and yet no word of their insurrection abating or their leader brought to book.
My suggestion is that since the northern insurgents are so invincible, perhaps we could recommend them to either side of the Russia / Ukraine divide. At least that way we get some respite and the savings from that project used to bring down the price of diesel.
More seriously, what is really going on? Are northerners not running rings round us?
How I wish their maradonic moves could be translated into football prowess, perhaps by now we would be dreaming of a World Cup.
Did you notice the speed with which Northern Governors made an about turn on the issue of power shift only for defections to start in favour of Atiku's PDP?
Well for some it is politics. For some it is Education. For others it is Industry.
I remember Professor Alfred Opubor's suit that stopped Wazobia News on NTA. Today the minorities would be chuckling but this is more like a part holding others hostage.
Well maybe the difference between agitators in the North and the rest of the country is that the northerners are never after building any image for themselves. Even the most educated will still wish to be called simply Malam. But in the South everyone wishes to be known as the leader and so, it's easy for the leaders to be spotted and isolated.
