Elders misleading the youths
The Holy Bible says that narrow is the road that leads to life. This Indeed is
the story of Peter Obi.Peter Obi would be addressed after the chicanery of two soulmates in search of the same prize.
I mean Atiku and BAT, two politicians' politicians. Honestly, on a good day, I admire their Political mien but the days are not good and they prefer the wide road that leads to no where.
Their ambition has reopened an old wound that Nigeria had been treating.
This they have done by refusing to toe the narrow path. They have been angling for the Presidency and it is now or never.
Man is no God.
I do not know if ex Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar believes in Marabouts but his emergence as Head of State was quite surprising.
PMB fought and fought until BAT pulled him up. Shagari's dream was to be a Senator not President. OBJ moved from jail to the Presidency.
I recall the story of a Not so young Nigerian basketball player whom I visited in company with a friend of his.
This Akwa Ibom born player on that visit inundated us with complaints bordering on despondency but surprisingly, less than a year later this player emerged as team captain. I was blown away.
In their blind ambition, even if both friends wear glasses, they have brought Nigeria full circle.
In 1979, Shagari for the North. Awo for the West. Zik for the East.
Since then a lot of water under the bridge. Prolonged military rule. Different means applied.
2022, after 43 years, the ambition of two friends have reignited the fire of 1979.
This is where Peter Obi comes in. Though today, he is Zik but he did not get there by the often travelled road of oratory or corruption.
Zik was an orator and skilful campaigner.
Peter Obi has earned his place as a fighter and a proven performer, untainted by corruption and villified for his altruistic parsimony.
Peter Obi treaded in Anambra State where a Governorship candidate was taken to a shrine to swear to agreeing to be sharing the state's revenue allocation with his Godfather.
Peter Obi was rigged out in the Governorship election. He went to court and won after three years.
As Governor, he was impeached. He went to court and won.
As Governor, he performed very well in Education, infrastructure and Industry. To cap it all, he left the state without being indebted unlike all the other 35 states, leaving for Anambra State, a savings in tens of billions
Today, he is the choice of not the Igbos but Nigerians who believe he is what Nigeria needs at this point in time not those who were part and parcel of our current malaise.
Those who have ears, let them hear.
