Magu's promotion is nothing but Magical

Yorubas have a saying that whoever does what no one had tried before will

see what no one has seen. This can be viewed from different perspectives but I choose to go with due process.

Yorubas also have another saying that a child often mistakes herbs for vegetables. This is also in support of due process.

I once had an opportunity to work as an auditor in a firm. The promise was not cast in concrete but I shuddered at the prospect of working in an environment hostile to due process.

Truth be told, the average northerner does not subscribe to due process. I do not know if it has to do with their system of education.

When PMB was being touted for his integrity, my worry was his people. It is not that they lack integrity.

The problem is their hostility to western norms. In the south our orientation is towards the West.

We may not be as straight as an arrow but we are never oblivious to the score in respect of our malfeasance. Not so in the North. Their rule book is different from ours.

The foregoing are intended to build a case for understanding the open se same behind the promotion of Ibrahim Magu, the erstwhile Boss of EFCC.

He was hounded out of office in a gale of luscious accusations. Meanwhile, the man continued to maintain his innocence.

From the government, mum was the word.

Analysts predicted nothing would come from the Investigation.

Today they have been vindicated. My worry is that the process is devoid of common sense and needs not stand as a precedence.
