Nigeria's War against Insecurity is not about Equipment
Nigeria's War against Insecurity is not about a lack of weapons. It is about a
lack of will. The US is extending late hour generosity to Nigeria by way of approval for sale of weapons a little under a billion dollars.
The US may mean well but those who initiated the deal obviously do not mean well for Nigeria.
PMB's body language immediately after assuming office and his body language now are diametrically opposite.
Upon assumption of Office like a war General, PMB enlisted the support of neighbouring countries in giving the trouble makers a huge hiding.
Subsequently, things changed. My take now is that the insurgency which has always been religious has now won over the Nigerian Government.
It is the result we are living with. They are now bolder and more dangerous.
My sympathies lie with the hapless soldiers who are used as cannon fodder in the lopsided and half hearted war.
For Nigeria to win against the insurgents, all it takes is for those who have the ears of the insurgents to get them to lay down their arms. Otherwise, as things stand now, our whole security apparatus is grossly compromised.
Those who feel otherwise are well within their rights. It is just that the more the struggle continues, the more our armed forces are decimated and made a joke of a fighting force.
The solution does not lie in more arms, more men or more expertise but a total surrender by the insurgents.
