Kaduna train attack: giving Amaechi a bad name
I recall the Entebbe raid by Israel and the war against Lebanon. Both were
about their citizens in captivity. When Jimmy Carter tried to rescue American hostages from Iran, it was the same message.Terrorists are killing Nigerians and one of the responses is that Amaechi tried to award security contract in an untoward manner.
I do not support corrupt practices but what comfort does Amaechi's misadventure give to the dead?
I expect Amaechi to grieve but this is not about Amaechi. I know there is the public procurement Act. When Amaechi acted improperly, what followed?
Should Amaechi be prosecuted for the security breach?
Both Amaechi and those who prevented him from awarding the contract should hold themselves accountable.
Human lives deserve more. Tax payers deserve better. Nigerian citizens, public officers should serve faithfully, have been shortchanged.
The time to revisit the security contract is now.
