When Public Service is viewed with suspicion

I saw a list of persons who have been living off public funds for about 20

years and I realized what public service has become in all cases.

It reminded me  of one of my sisters who on hearing of a declaration for public office, will wonder if the person declaring still wanted more money, especially where the person is a man or woman of means.

It is really sad given that public service ought to be a contribution to betterment of the society.

BRF made that list and I feel sad. By my reckoning, the only person who outperformed him as Governor of Lagos State is the inimitable LKJ.

Sadly, LKJ's foray beyond State level ended badly. The same fate is the lot of BRF at the National level.

I feel sad that BRF is numbered among those feeding off public funds.

It is the nature of politics that BRF is no more enjoying the accolades he got as Governor of Lagos State. Too bad he is now numbered, not among contributors but parasites.

  1. This is bound to happen especially when you do not see the service as voluntary and selfless. In most cases, their objective is largely centered around money, ego and power, forgetting that society welfarism is the actual call. Until we begin to put God first and be contented with what He has given us at our various levels, this will continue to be the case. My prayer is that the Almighty should have mercy on Nigeria and the innocent indigenes. Aameen.
