Soludo's bumpy beginning

The inauguration of Charles Chukwuma Soludo as Executive

Governor of Anambra State is done with.

Like Clement Isong of old Cross River State , he is entering office of Governor, as an ex Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.

Soludo unlike Clement Isong is a professor of Macroeconomics. Interestingly, Soludo who had his first Degree, Masters and PhD in Nigeria at the University of Nigeria Nsukka has promised to be truly Nigerian in his wears, rides and entertainment at State functions.

As a true Economist and patriot, he wants his charity to begin from home so as to revamp the economy of Anambra State, nay Nigeria.

His predecessors like Obi and Obiano have laid a solid foundation in Education and Infrastructure.

The major challenge before Soludo to me is to ride the murky waters of politics.

Soludo, to me is a 21st Century scholar in the middle of medieval politics. How he is able to translate his ideals is a matter for careful observation.

For a start, he has taken head long, a long standing challenge in Anambra State. This challenge is that of revenue collection.

As a student in UNN, I was once accosted at Onitsha in Anambra State by the revenue collectors demanding for my tax receipt.

Honestly, I felt helpless before them as they refused to let me go having told them, I was a student. Initially, it felt like a joke.

Now, Soludo has outlawed their activities.

He should be prepared to deal with the fallout. When Matthew the Tax collector, was called by Jesus Christ, he repented. Until, these crude revenue collectors are rehabilitated, they remain a security threat.

The ride for now promises to be bumpy, how Soludo navigates his Innoson Jeep would determine his success or failure. For now failure is just not an option.

  2. Our own Lion has landed not in Eagle square but in Awka-Onitsha-Nnewi, Amata.
How he skillfully navigates this rugged terrains will determine the success of his tenure.

Soludo has to think outside and within the box to raise needed fund for development.

Because he so different and more exposed than his predecessors much more is expected of him.

He bears the cross of expectations, as to whom much is given much is expected.

I hope he deploys his wealth of experience in international financial circle and his varied and deep knowledge of nigerian economy in transforming Anambra State.

The momentum and support is with Solido he must cash his cheques now or commit class suicide.
